A few ideas to take the stress out of Halloween preparations….
Cheesecloth was big in the 70s but you’ll need some that no-one wears anymore!
Decide where your cobwebs will hang, preferably a narrow space like a hallway, cut fabric to the width of that space. Pin or hook cheesecloth in place. Cut vertical strips in cloth, varying the length of the cuts and the spacing between. Make holes in each strip and fray the edges to make them look more webby. For a final horror effect, glue on a few plastic spiders to the tattered webbing.
Little bit trickier. You’ll need a mini pumpkin, black paint, a drill (just adults to use this!), pipe cleaners, googly eyes, and glue. Paint the pumpkin black and allow to dry.
Drill eight holes into the pumpkin, then stick pipe cleaners in each of the holes and bend them to look like legs. Glue googly eyes onto the front of the pumpkin and you’ve got a little pumpkin spider which is either cute or creepy depending on your taste!.
Really easy – you just need two large sheets of black foam and some circle magnets. Draw out the pattern of a couple of eyes and a ghosty mouth onto the foam and cut it out.
Take the circle magnets that have a sticky side and attach them to the back. Place on the fridge, maybe put more black foam on the fridge top. So your fridge looks a bit more fearsome than usual!
Creepy crawly ice cubes
Pick up some plastic spiders, available in most general stores.
Make sure they’re clean then drop them into water and then into the freezer to make scary ice cubes. Works well with other insects, too.
Awesome apple heads
Peel a few apples and then position holes into one side to make a scary face.
Pop them into your punch bowl for a truly terrifying effect. The red liquid highlights the pale apple faces.
