Celebrate The Heroes Who Made Us
The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo takes place on Edinburgh Castle’s iconic Esplanade from the 1st to the 23rd of August 2025.
New Creative Director Alan Lane, who places storytelling at the heart of his creative process, has developed the theme of “The Heroes Who Made Us”, the story of those iconic men and women who have made The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo so distinctive and successful over the last 75 years. It will merge traditional military elements with modern touches through creative projection, technology, costume design and inspiring music. The British Army is confirmed as the lead service for this special anniversary year.
Continuing its charitable commitment, the Tattoo is donating £750,000 to military and arts charities across the United Kingdom. Plus, for the first time in Tattoo history, a further donation of 75p from every 2025 Show ticket sold will be made to a non-military charity: St Columba's Hospice Care, in Edinburgh. The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo also remains committed to the preservation and promotion of traditional arts in Scotland. It’s a show you simply don’t want to miss!
Who are YOUR Heart Heroes?
For your chance to win, you'll need to tell us all about your hero. In 300 words or less, tell us who your Heart Hero is, what they have done and how they have inspired you or their community or volunteered their time. Five winners will each receive 4 VIP experience tickets to The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and a spotlight moment in the show, plus £500 in cash. Winners will be chosen by Heart and an independent judge.
