The Heart Hertfordshire Hero Awards are back for 2024
It's that time of year again, where we start getting ready to celebrate and honour the unsung heroes across our county.
Nominations are now OPEN, so tell us about your hero and they could be joining us at Sopwell House on Friday 16th February 2024 for an evening of spectacular food, awards and entertainment.
You can nominate anyone from an amazing fundraiser to someone who has shown outstanding support in their community.
Please choose the category you feel is most suited, but don’t worry if you’re not sure as some nominations may fit into more than one. If we think a nomination could work in another category, the team will ensure it’s considered for the most appropriate award.
UKRAINE SUPPORT AWARD
with Hertfordshire County Council
This award recognises and celebrates those who have made a difference to the people of Ukraine during a time of crisis. So, if you know an individual who has welcomed a family into their home or maybe has helped an organisation provide humanitarian support, whatever the story, we want to know about it.
Hertfordshire County Council deliver a range of public services to over a million people, who live, work and travel in Hertfordshire. These include social care, transport, education, and the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Carer Award
with B&M Care
The Carer award is open to anyone working in care or those who care for family or friends. We’re looking for someone who is always there to support others, has a positive impact on a vulnerable person’s life and is always willing to go the extra mile to give someone the care they deserve at a time when they need it most.
B&M Care is an established specialist dementia care provider that operates an extensive portfolio of 27 luxury residential care homes in and around the Home Counties. With a dedicated 1300+ workforce, B&M Care understands that ’great care begins with great people’ and their almost 50yr success story continues to develop its in person-centred approach to improving the wellbeing of people living with a dementia.
NHS Hero Award
with NHS Professionals
After the last few years this category and the work of the NHS has been at the front of everyone’s mind and so many people are deserving of this award. We’re looking someone who has gone above and beyond for either the benefit of a patient or maybe someone who has shown exceptional support to their peers and colleagues during challenging times. You can nominate someone who cared for you or someone you love, or NHS staff can nominate a deserving colleague.
Established in 2001 as a Special Health Authority (SpHA) and then incorporated as a limited company in 2008, NHS Professionals are experts at putting people in places to care within NHS Trusts and the wider healthcare system in England. We work with over 100 client Trusts and NHS organisations, with 190,000 healthcare professionals registered with us.
Uniquely, we are owned by the Department of Health and Social Care. This means that we stand apart from other recruitment organisations, enabling significant reinvestment back into the wider healthcare economy. In 2021-22, this investment totalled over £18 million, in addition to associated workforce efficiencies and savings made by individual NHS Trusts.

This award is open to people of all ages who have a passion to fundraise and support some amazing causes. No matter how much money has been raised we want to hear how it was done and why it was done. If you know an inspirational fundraiser, we want to know about them.
Just Smile Ltd is an event hire, entertainment and production company based in Bushey, just outside Watford, Hertfordshire. Founded in 2009, the company has delivered over 10,000 events in over 10+years providing weddings, parties, conferences, meetings, product launches etc with audio visual, sound & lighting equipment for speeches, DJ’s, presentations and much more.
Just Smile Ltd is part of many high-end weddings & other family celebrations, providing production & lighting for the ultimate party experience. Working in some of London (and the worlds) leading venues and hotels including The Grove, The Landmark, The Savoy & The Dorchester to name a few.
Community Award
with Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden
We’re looking for a member of the community or a group that works hard to make a difference. This could be someone who helps a neighbour with shopping, a local community group or someone who makes it their mission to go to remarkable lengths and make a difference to the lives of others.
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden (WBSL) is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art film and TV studio offering one of the largest facilities in the UK. The 200-acre secure site has over 1,000,000 ft2 of production space, one of the largest heated underwater filming tanks in Europe and an unrivalled, clear-horizon, 100-acre backlot, complete with exterior tank. WBSL is home to 20 sound stages ranging from 10,800 ft2 to 48,400 ft2 that can be adapted to suit productions of any scale.
WBSL also has numerous production offices, dressing rooms, hair and makeup rooms and a covered multi-function area, immediately adjacent to the stages, which is ideal for costume, props, camera, grip and all support service requirements. The site is home to Warner Bros. Set Lighting & Rigging which provides high-spec lighting, scaffolding and rigging equipment to suit all studio and location requirements. It is also home to post-production company Warner Bros. De Lane Lea which has a dailies facility at the Studio and a full-service sound and picture post-production facility in Soho, providing award-winning, world-class talent and services for feature films and high-end TV.
Young Achiever Award

The Young Achiever award is open to anyone under the age of 18 who has achieved something outstanding. We want to acknowledge, encourage and promote their positive achievements. This could be anything from an academic achievement to overcoming a physical challenge.

This could be a group, company or individual that is working to make a difference. We're looking for someone who is working on or has already implemented a successful plan towards creating a greener future. We want to know about any exceptional initiatives across Hertfordshire.

The Future of Hertfordshire

This award recognises and celebrates young people across Hertfordshire who are already making a positive impact in the county and inspiring those around them. You can't nominate for this award as winners will be selected from all hero nominations.
Sky Studios Elstree is a new, state-of-the-art film and TV studio based in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. With 12 sound stages, the world-class studio will become home to a range of productions from across the world, creating thousands of jobs, supporting local charities, initiatives and businesses and becoming a training ground for young people looking to get into the world of film and TV.
The Big Heart Award
This award will celebrate our overall Hero of the night. The Big Heart Award winner will be selected from all our nominations so make sure you nominate your hero before it's too late.
